Memoir Writing: Creating Your Autobiography

If You Don’t Tell Your Story ~ Who Will?

From the beginning of time, man has passed down knowledge and experiences that would benefit the ones coming after them… how to hunt, how to have warmth… how to find shelter… how to cure… what they learned along their journey.

It takes just one generation to forget we were here.

Our days on Earth are like grass,

Like wildflowers we bloom and die,

The wind blows and we are gone,

As though we had never been here… ~ Psalm 103

You can’t afford to waste time.

I am passionate about your sharing and preserving your life stories, experiences and knowledge.

I’ll tell you one thing, now that I am getting older I wish I had listened more when I was young to my great-aunt’s tales of family history. She carried so much genealogy in her head.. I wish I had captured her words on tape or paper. Now most of it is lost forever.

But she did create a spark within me to learn about and preserve our ancestors. Where did they come from? How did they get to America? Where did they live? What did they believe in?

I have spent many years putting the pieces together… a birth certificate here… and census record there… But I’ll tell you — there is nothing like the biography from a loved one… be it written or video… that captures their passions and their knowledge.

My father-in-law passed on in 2008. He was a giving and loving role model to his family and friends. We were blessed to have known this man. Our beloved father and grandfather, is loved and missed but not forgotten. He lives on in the hearts and memories of his wife, children, in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And his legacy of love continues to grow, because we were able to capture this wonderful man’s video biography for generations to come. He appreciated this work and whole heartedly believed in its value.

You cannot afford to lose family values, memories and traditions.

Pass on your knowledge… share your memories… tell your story as only you can.

Honor a parent, grandparent or loved one.

It's Your Life Story...
